CLEVELAND, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- AmericanGreetings.com celebrated
Mother's Day this year with a "A Patchwork of Love" quilt which
enabled people to create online patches telling moms how important
they are. The touching expressions of love ultimately honored 7,856
women in a quilt that would stretch the length of 13 football fields
if each patch was six inches square. The patches were viewed over
290,000 times throughout the Mother's Day holiday.
The quilt honored mothers and women from all 50 states, with California
claiming the most patches. The quilt also included patches from
around the world including England, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Spain,
India, China, South Africa, Singapore and many other countries.
The quilt was also featured on The Quilter Community and the new
Quilting Channel websites.
The quilt was part of a very busy Mother's Day 2005 for AmericanGreetings.com.
The website had over 37 million visits during the week leading up
to Mother's Day, a significant increase in activity from Mother's
Day 2004.
"We are very pleased to report an exceptionally active Mother's
Day at AmericanGreetings.com this year," said Sally Babcock, senior
vice president, AG Interactive. "The quilt was something new that
we created to provide a unique approach to celebrate mothers, and
it definitely caught on. We were impressed with the level of interest
in the quilt as well as with the growing number of people who sent
online expressions of love to their mothers. From our perspective,
it appears that many mothers had a very Happy Mother's Day."
